Jan 2000 – Present: Forces Radio, BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) (UK and Worldwide) – I joined Forces Radio, BFBS to cover 2 weeks of the ‘Late Show’ and have been there ever since. I became the longest serving presenter for the Official UK Top 40 and was the presenter of choice when the stations most popular programme, Access All Areas was re-launched in 2004. I’ve presented programmes from many unusual places that include battleships, tanks and aircraft plus I’ve undertaken tours to the Falkland Islands, Bosnia, Kosovo, Germany, Gibraltar, and Belgium along with many other places.
I have regular programmes on Forces Radio, BFBS and I’m the go-to presenter to cover any programme on any of their 4 networks. The UK Bases Network targets 18-24-year-olds, Global Network targets 18-24-year-olds that are based overseas, UK DAB Network targets 25-45-year-olds in the UK and BFBS Radio 2 which targets over 45’s that are overseas – this service has more of a speech based format. Forces Radio, BFBS is a bespoke radio service with a very specific audience.
I’ve been a regular contributor to Forces Radio, BFBS since 2000 and my contract has allowed me the freedom to pursue other ventures over the years while continuing my work at the station.
2002 – Present: QBS Radio (Qatar Broadcasting Service) (Doha, Qatar) - Presentation and production of a weekly music programme playing new releases. This programme is produced and presented from studios in the UK.
Aug 2012 – Feb 2014: Spectrum FM (Spain and Balearic Islands) - When the opportunity to do programmes on the largest English speaking radio station in Spain came about I didn’t hesitate to accept. I presented the weekday networked afternoon programme from studios in the UK.
Jan 2011 – Feb 2012: Mood 92 (Amman, Jordan) - I was recruited to present the Breakfast programme and was soon given the added role as Programme Director. A role that required close liaison with the sales and marketing teams to help identify new revenue streams. I was tasked to enhanced the station’s on-air sound, imaging and output. Also, I oversaw many of the Station Manager’s roles during his enforced absence through illness. I left at the end of my contract having taken Mood 92 to number 1 in the competitive Jordanian radio market in just 12 short months.
Aug 2006 – Nov 2010: Reading 107fm (Reading, Berkshire) – Initially hired as a cover presenter in 2006, before my appointment as Programme Controller in January 2009. Working alongside the Managing Director, I redesigned the music policy, implemented a new station imaging package and hired a new presentation line-up. Another key role was the training and development of staff and sales to develop new methods of working. This created a greater understanding of each other’s roles which helped to increase contacts, maximise sales and other business opportunities. The changes I implemented saw Reading 107fm increase its total listening hours by 12%, average hours by 14% and market share increases by 17%.
